Ethical Guidelines Astrology

For the reputation of the profession within society, compliance with ethical principles towards clients and amongst colleagues is of the utmost importance.

I. The responsible astrologer will therefore interpret horoscopes to the best of their knowledge and belief, always applying the following principles:

  1. to consider the well-being of the client as their top priority;

  2. to treat the client with empathy and respect, recognising their freedom of will; to point out opportunities for development and action according to the astrological model of time quality, and to encourage them to take responsibility for their own decisions;

  3. to refrain from making moral judgements, such as claiming that an astrological constellation is “inherently good or bad”;

  4. to never put clients under pressure or frighten them; to be aware of the limitations of astrological statements; to point out that every astrological constellation can be interpreted in many different ways, and to offer their interpretation and advice in a helpful way;

  5. to always treat all personal information about the client as strictly confidential, unless they are expressly released from this obligation by the client;

  6. to set appropriate and clear boundaries with clients regarding personal needs and motives, be they, for example, of emotional, financial or sexual nature;

  7. to constantly review and develop their astrological expertise; to apply it only within the limits of their professional competence, and, if necessary, refer clients to professionals of other disciplines.

II. The professional astrologer will treat colleagues with esteem, appreciation, and respect to protect and maintain the reputation of the profession.

III. The professional astrologer must organise their advertising measures and information in accordance with these Ethical Guidelines. Among other things, they shall refrain from using the term “Psychological Astrologer” in their external advertising.

IV. The professional astrologer observes the limits of the professional scope of commercial astrology. In particular, they do not offer systemic constellation work.
